The Kona Music Society welcomes interested singers to its open house rehearsal at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 28 in the band room at Kealakehe Intermediate School. No audition is required.

Fall rehearsals are regularly held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, culminating in holiday-themed concerts, which will include portions of Handel’s “Messiah,” with orchestra, and a free Family Holiday Concert at the Old Kona Airport Park.

The Kona Music Society is community based, encompassing a major portion of West Hawaii. A youth chorus is also available.

The Messiah Concert will be performed at 7 p.m. Nov. 30 at Kahilu Theatre in Waimea and at 5 p.m. Dec. 1 at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel.

The free community performance is slated at 4 p.m. Dec. 22.
